Commissions

Prices for non-commissioned work start at £40 for a small (10x8cm) acrylic on paper  and £175-350 for charcoal drawings (typically 40 x 60cms).

The largest oils  (around 1.5m sq) are in the region of £2,000+).

Smaller oils start in the range of £70-150 for oil on wood or paper .

The price depends on the complexity of the design - multiple figures for instance – and those shown here are examples already sold.

Commissioned work More complex portraits in oils, because they take a long time to evolve (six months to a year is not unusual) are only undertaking on the basis of a collaboration (a joint project). A medium sized portrait in oils (around 1 x 0.5m) of this type would cost around £1,000 unframed.

Portraits in charcoal or other mediums purely as a likeness are done from photographs: I prefer to take these myself but I can work with your own if there is sufficient detail. An unframed commissioned charcoal or pencil drawing (40 x 60cms) on acid free rag paper is £250-300. Acrylic or oil on paper starting at 10cms around £100.

Unusual commissioned works On occasion I have been asked by people who have liked my work to undertake very personal commissions for them. The inspiration was theirs - my role was to help formulate an image they had in their mind’s eye. I am more likely to agree to a project if it is intriguing and has something in common with work I do anyway.
